Curtains play at Dos Pueblos high school

GOLETA -  A true whodunnit with subtle musical clues, funny one-liners, puns on show biz jargon, big production dance numbers, and most of all, great songs from Kander and Ebb.

Book by Rupert Holmes (Edwin Drood), songs by Fred Ebb & John Kander (Cabaret, Chicago), with additional lyrics by Kander and Holmes. The musical, set in 1959, is a send-up of backstage murder mystery plots, and follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of Robbin' Hood of the Old West is murdered during the opening night curtain call of a show headed for Broadway in its Boston tryout. Can a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan save the show, solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself?

The large cast of talented DPHS student actors and actresses are supported by a 23-person orchestra comprised of DPHS students and community musicians, including pianist Konrad Kono. Directed by Clark Sayre and Paul Freeman, choreography by DPHS senior Keely Moore, set design by Raphael Perea, costumes by Miller James. Students and parent volunteers have put in enormous hours to make this show a success. My kids JP and Nanda are part of the production, and I am MD and conductor. I hope to see you there.
