SANTA BARBARA - SB City Fire crews responded to a reported structure fire at the Marborg Recycling facility on North Quarantina Street shortly before 9pm Wednesday night (12/23/09).

 

When fire crews arrived the recycling facility's sprinkler system was actively spraying down the center.  Fire crews used a hose stream augmented with foam to a rubbish pile as it was pulled apart by Marborg employees.  The Marborg employees actively participated in the fire effort by operating heavy equipment.

 

Smoke was visible throughout the lower Eastside.  The fire was extinguished within 45 minutes and investigators remained on scene to determine the cause.
