Sage Hill Campground is located in Paradise Canyon. Fire officials found a female hiker approximately half way up the hill from the campground.  Helicopter 309 also responded with Firefighter / Paramedics.

One rescuer was lowered down to the group of hikers via the helicopter hoist. The 36 year old female hiker was evaluated, including her blood sugar levels and paramedics determined she was suffering from heat exhaustion.

The hiker was given water and was assisted down the hill by firefighters.

All 13 hikers were vacationing from Long Beach. David Sadecki reported that the group had underestimated the strenuousness of the hike, the hot weather conditions and their own physical fitness.

The group also ran out of water and food while hiking.
