"As Christians, we hold two truths in dynamic tension: Offering God’s unconditional love and communicating God’s uncompromising truth. To offer God’s love unconditionally includes loving those who do not accept God’s truth as taught in His word, including his truth about marriage. God’s plan for marriage is expressed by Jesus in Matthew 19 when he says: “ "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." (Matthew 19:4-6)
Trusting God’s word to be true as expressed in this specific teaching of Jesus, Christians believe that we are called to be loving to all people while being faithful to his word. We join with Catholic, Orthodox and other Protestant Christians in seeking to balance the dynamic tension of exhibiting God’s love while affirming God’s guidance in the way we live our lives. In a democracy, this includes voting in ways that affirm God’s truth and biblical values.”
