The Rev. Betty Sue Sherrod has been leading the First Congregational Church of Santa Barbara since January, 2007.  Her comments on Prop 8 follow:

"I am deeply disappointed that Proposition 8, removing equal marriage rights for all people, was successful in California.  I continue to believe that the measure is unconstitutional because it conflicts with the California Constitution ensuring equal rights for all people. 
 
More than that, I believe it is contrary to the radical love of God, as we see it in Jesus.  I am confident that one day this prejudice will be removed from any and all parts of our legal system.  Until that day, I continue to support good, honest, committed, healing love - where ever I find it."
